What a great week of ministry! Eighty CCC staff from around the country came to cross cultures…and that's exactly what we did! I spent last Monday and Wednesday on the Brooklyn College campus with Lorna and Francine, two staff members with Impact, a ministry to people of African descent. We gleaned valuable information about the campus, which has very little Christian presence and no Crusade ministry. I used Soularium (mysoularium.com) to engage students in spiritual conversations.
On Tuesday I got to hang out with students at Hunter College who are involved with Korean Campus Crusade for Christ (KCCC). I trained Jane and Camilla in using Soularium as we talked with students on Campus. We also participated in a half-hour prayer meeting in which we prayed 'Korean style', meaning everyone prayed out loud at the same time. What a privilege it was to spend time with students who have such a big heart for their campus!
The highlight of the week for me wason Wednesday morning, when the NYC staff gave an impassioned plea for staff to consider joining them in New York either short- or long-term. There are only 12 staff attempting to engage 1 million students on 140 campuses in the most influential city in the world. It's a huge need for laborers, and it was so exciting to hear the case made in front of so many experienced, committed staff!
