Crossing Cultures in the Center of the World
November 9-11, "the US Campus Ministry of Campus Crusade for Christ will join in a national effort to reach out to students and faculty in other cultures, on campuses right here in the U.S." Here's the thing: Crusade is a (mostly) white organization, and the college student population is becoming more diverse every year. White folks like me have no idea, for the most part, what it's like to not be a part of the dominant culture and experience life & spirituality through that context.
I am going to (where else?) New York City, where 66% of the population is a minority. I and the 70 staff from around the country who join me will experience a taste of what it's like to be an outnumbered people. We're hoping to connect with students from diverse backgrounds, share the gospel in a way that connects with them, and help launch new movements of ethnic minority students who want to follow Christ.
Please pray for God's blessing on our time, and for us to be sensitive to His leading. It should be a great three days of ministry!
